Dr. Lucas Mathes

Dr. Mathes was born in Detroit, MI. He completed his bachelor’s of science degree in Biology with a minor in Philosophy at the Univeristy of Detroit Mercy. Following his undergraduate education Dr. Mathes attended the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry obtaining his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 2021. During dental school, Dr. Mathes was active in research and was the president of the Student Research Group. Dr. Mathes continued his training, specializing in pediatric dentistry, at the University of Michigan, and completed his training in 2023, earning a certificate and master's degree in Pediatric Dentistry. During his residency, he completed his thesis on the Effects of Stainless Steel Crowns on MRI Scans of the Head & Neck in Children, which was selected as the winner of the 2024 American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Graduate Student Research Award competition. His research interests include radiology and radiology safety. He is currently in private practice and is an adjunct clinical instructor at the University of Michigan where he teaches pediatric dentistry residents.
