Clinical Laser Applications in Pediatric Dentistry:  Biopsy, Pathology, but NO Frenectomy!

Description:

The incorporation of a (carbon dioxide) laser into a dental practice is a huge stepping stone into growing a successful practice.  Cases will include common and less frequently encountered oral pathology lesions, post-orthodontic recontouring,  orthodontic exposures and other scenarios that can be addressed with a carbon dioxide laser.

Objectives. Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

1. Discuss a variety of soft tissue pathology that can be addressed with a CO2 laser.

2. Discuss differential diagnosis of oral pathology lesions in children.

3. Describe treatment modalities of select soft tissue pathologies and anomalies.

8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2024

Clinical Case Management and Restorative Updates on Molar Incisor Hypomineralization

Description:

Molar Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH) encompasses a wide range and array of enamel and dentin defects that create multiple challenges for the provider, especially in the younger patient population.  The course will review the current understanding of the causative factors related to MIH and how to differentiate this from other anomalies.  A variety of cases based on age, severity and complexity will be reviewed and discussed to help better understand treatment planning and restorative options that exist for MIH.  The main focus of the course will address the first permanent molars, molar substitution and some anterior esthetic cases.  A wide assortment of materials and techniques will also be discussed to help the provider better address the stubborn nature of MIH and allow for more consistent and predictable treatment outcomes.

Objectives. Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

1.  Describe the common clinical presentations and proposed causes of MIH.

2.  Discuss various treatment modalities that can be utilized to restore hypomineralized molars.

3.  Analyze the entire unique patient and determine the most predictable long-term plan.

4.  Discuss the use of resin infiltration with hypomineralized and decalcified anterior teeth.
